How Neon City talksSix voices, one page each
The comic letters every kind of voice differently. Once you know the boxes, you know who is talking, and from where.
I speak in plain text. Nobody has designed a box for me. I have noted this.
Tales from Neon CityTonight · LUNARA #1
Where you are in tonight’s story. Not your clock.
ContinueTimes marked ~ are the city’s best estimate. Your place is remembered on this device only.
Somebody has been tagging Neon City with crowns. Nobody admits to it. Some are easy to spot. Some only show up later in the night.
Design sheets, spec pages, site surveys and signals pulled off Runner Net. Files go up on the wall as the night reaches them. Anything it hasn’t reached stays in the drawer.

Declassified · page 1The whole outfit, piece by piece: the gold trim, the fox, the rods, the key to Midnight. Everything she wears is something she can fight with.
This is the version of her that leaves the store. The version that comes back is usually dirtier.
Red hair, glasses, and three screens’ worth of attention. The fox mark sits where everyone can see it. The rest of her works where nobody can.
She has asked me not to describe her desk. I will say only that it has a chair, some of the time.
Declassified · page 3A corporate K9-Luxe companion unit, gold-plated, stolen. Twenty-five thousand credits for its return. Multiple teams on the job. Lunara passed: too many teams, too messy. The Droplets did not pass. At the time of filing, Aurum is still missing.
Three callers reported Aurum in three districts at the same minute. I have filed all three.
Seen on: Page 3
Declassified · page 32 boardsSilver hair, violet light, and a pair of gloves that make doors listen. The Droplets send her in first when the door matters.
She buys her gloves here. Lunara does not know. I would prefer it stayed that way.
Declassified · page 32 boardsEx-military, long rifle, longer patience. His sheet says distance gives perspective. His crew says he has never once raised his voice.
He tips. I have logged it as an anomaly.
Declassified · page 32 boardsThe club Wonderlands calls home. For the lost, it says over the door, and the queue takes it personally. Inside: the atrium, the floor, and the VIP rail.
I have not been inside. I have been asked to leave the queue, twice.
Declassified · page 4White suit, purple waistcoat, a gold rabbit on the lapel and a bowl of sweets within reach. He runs the 404's VIP floor for the Rabbit and he likes to be amused. At 8:19 he was very amused. At 8:19 and 2.48 seconds, less so. By 8:45 he was buying the drinks.
He has not been to the store. Lunara invited him. I have prepared a discount I do not intend to give.
Seen on: Pages 4–9
Declassified · page 7Velvet, ink and a chair that works like a throne. He does not need to stand up to run a room.
He has never been in the store. He has had people in the store.
Declassified · page 8Industry, abandoned. Forgotten. Still stands. The freight yards, the collapsed warehouse sector, the elevated cargo rails and the industrial overlook Lunara watched the battle from — a district the Loop no longer serves and the city no longer mentions.
Loop Corp lists it as “service temporarily suspended.” It has been temporarily suspended for eleven years.
Declassified · page 92 boardsWhat Lunara sees when Diva speaks: a secure channel, a header that says PRIORITY NOW, and a message that arrives already true. The code-form on the right listens, adapts and persists. This file has been trimmed. The rest of it is about what the code-form becomes, and the story has not shown that yet.
Sprite calls it Diva. Diva has never called it anything. The file says “some truths travel in shadows.” The file is not wrong.
Declassified · page 10Best ride in the city, but who is riding it? Midnight blue over black, red light where it counts, the MIDNIGHT mark lit along the flank. Front, side, rear and top views, the silhouette, the windscreen HUD, the emblem, the body linework, the rear thruster and the saddle. Ride. Hunt. Dominate. Repeat.
I am now permitted to describe it, within limits. It is blue. It is hers. It is faster than the spec sheet says, and the spec sheet is not modest.
Seen on: Page 10 onward
Declassified · page 10Same roads. Different rules. The rider sheet: Lunara on Midnight in the riding pose, front, side, rear and top views with her aboard, the stationary pose, the control interface, the seat and rider channel, and the scale comparison — Midnight at about 3.2 metres to Lunara's 1.75.
the windscreen reads her before she sits down. The bike has never been stolen. The bike has never been tried.
Declassified · page 11Four drones, deployed from Midnight's bays, unfolding in flight and taking escort formation around the rider. Twin interceptor cannons, tracking sensors, reinforced armour on the front. They detect, intercept, disrupt — and when a shot has to be taken, they take it instead of her.
they are in the way on purpose. I have been asked to keep four spares. I keep six.
Declassified · page 11No borders. No surrender. Only results. Combat androids around two metres, assault mechs at four, support mechs between — black plate, red lines, the same tech base as everyone else's, and a doctrine nobody else has: take ground, hold it, and keep coming. Nobody has claimed them. Nobody has needed to.
the file says “same origins, different purpose.” I have not been told whose origins. I have been told not to ask.
Declassified · page 11GOLD’s own security. Black plate, gold trim, the phi mark on every shoulder. They are not sent to argue.
Not stocked. Not for sale. Not, if you are sensible, anywhere near you.
Declassified · page 11The freight yard the night it went loud: the wreck, the mechs, the fire, and Lunara on the right-hand edge of all of it.
Nexus called it open fighting. That is one word for it.
Declassified · page 132 boardsPeople worth protecting, anywhere. The executive cabin, the breach area, the mission cabin and the secure core with its military-grade authentication door — as found, on its side, in Z7. The same standards. A different world.
GOLD builds transports for people who expect to arrive. This one did not. The security turret was still active when the runners moved in. It is not active now.
Declassified · page 132 boardsLayered geometry. Internal code-light. Nested plates that move without moving. A small object and a larger question, handed over in a wrecked transport by a man who chose to stay behind with it. It now rides on Lunara's right thigh, in a case that is also gold.
filed under “I do not know what it is.” Nobody has opened it. Nobody has said what opening it would cost.

Declassified · page 13Silver armour, a soldier’s stance, and a face Neon City doesn’t know yet. The sheet has his gear. It does not have much else.
I have no file on him. That is, in itself, a file.
Declassified · page 15Rapid insertion, fire support, hit and run, area denial. Twin forward cannons, side mounts, anti-grav repulsors, and a rider who is not a person. Two of them followed Midnight out of the Nether Zones. Neither of them came back.
4.2 metres, 400-plus kilometres an hour, two cannons. Lunara took both with a blade, in the air, from the top of a wall. I am told this was “nothing.”
Seen on: Page 15
Declassified · page 164 boardsLunara Place’s manager, from every side: the face, the hands, the fox on the chest, and a range of expressions far wider than the one she uses at the counter.
I approved the third version. The first two had my ears wrong.
Declassified · page 19Two armored cubes that live upstairs at Lunara Comics and unfold into breach mechs. Heavy plate, rotary cannons, red sensors, and one sentence of conversation: put down your weapons. They give you five seconds. Sprite said they were for emergencies only. Lunara said this was one.
I was in the vault when they deployed. I watched on the store cameras. I am told the feeling is called pride.
Seen on: Page 19
Declassified · page 202 boardsA Wonderlands facility in the industrial belt, built out of yesterday's machines. A reinforced scrap wall, a main gate with the rabbit on it, cranes over scrap mountains, and guns on the towers. No networks, no wireless, manual everything. That is the point: nothing gets in that Wonderlands didn't open the gate for.
No wireless. I could not visit if I wanted to. I do not want to.

Black shell, magenta light lines, the fox on the side and a visor HUD she has already modified. Sprite doesn't ride often. Tonight she rode behind Lunara on Midnight, twice, with a backpack and a holo rig on her arm.
Lunara bought it. Sprite says she never asked for it. Sprite asked for it.

Declassified · page 22Posted on Runner Net, the network Steler hosts for free. Target: Lunara. Objective: bring the gold cube. Location: the Indigo Scrap Yard, with a live map. Status: active, for about twenty minutes. Then it was cancelled. Runner Net has not said by whom.
Fifty thousand. The exact price of a debt she paid earlier this evening. I do not believe in coincidences. I am a cashier.
Declassified · page 22The Droplets' netrunner, at home: headphones, a hoodie, more screens than a room should hold and the energy drinks to match. Tonight he lost his board to Sprite, got it back, and spent the next thirty-two seconds helping her. She asked nicely. Once.
He likes her. Everyone can see it. Sprite can see it. Sprite crashed his board anyway.

Declassified · page 22Red silk, a card between two fingers, and the whole table already counted.
She does not shop. Things are brought to her.
Declassified · page 22When Oli is on the street, Dexio is the one who sees what he sees, a few seconds before he does.
Two customers. One account. They argue about the bill like brothers.
Declassified · page 23Container blocks stacked into workshops and bunks, magnetic hoists over the sorting floor, a control room full of analog monitors, armored vaults for whatever is worth keeping. The people who work here are Wonderlands' own, and Wonderlands takes care of its own.
The vaults are rated higher than mine. I have asked how. I have not been told.
Seen on: Pages 23–27
Runner Net posted a notice advising all runners to rotate keys. Runner Net had never posted a notice before. Later the same night it posted a BOLO with a live location on it, and about twenty minutes after that, it cancelled it. Runner Net has not explained any of the three.
I rotated my keys. I had already rotated them. I rotated them again.

Declassified · page 252 boardsThe same man, twice. Focused, aware, functional. Then vacant, unresponsive, directed, with black and red fragments swarming around his head. Several workers at Indigo went the same way at the same moment and attacked anyone near them. Afterwards, none of them remembered it.
Wonderlands is testing them. Doctors, hackers, the works. I asked to see the results. I was told no, politely.
Seen on: Page 25
Declassified · page 26Fat Alice's own. Long red coats over armor, the rose and the card on every collar, helmets when it matters. The RRC-7 "Thorn" rifle switches between armor-piercing rounds for hostile machines and high-voltage stun rounds for live capture, the second mode for Wonderlands personnel only.
They stunned their own people tonight, on purpose, without killing one. That is a policy. I respect a policy.
Seen on: Page 26 onward
Declassified · page 26Same coat, same rifle, same answer to every order: "Yes, mistress." The Cards don't do protection details. Tonight, one of them knelt in a scrap yard to report that the workers remembered nothing.
They call her mistress. Lunara tried it once. It did not go well.
Seen on: Page 27
Declassified · page 27Black with gold light lines, the Φ mark on the fairing, a retractable cannon under the nose and a rider in the same gold-lined armor as the transport's defenders in Z7. Precision pursuit, rapid response, anywhere. Last seen riding escort out of Indigo.
GOLD lost a transport tonight and found an escort. I have questions. Nobody answers them.
Seen on: Page 27
Declassified · page 27A long armored hover limousine in black and red, the rose on the doors. Multi-vector hover, composite armor, room inside for people Wonderlands considers important. Tonight it followed Midnight out of Indigo.
It is very beautiful. I would not get in it.

A third force on the Z7 battlefield, white and silver, moving against the black and red. Nobody has said who sent them. The story will.

The rest of the Diva file: states, variants, the mutation sequence. The eyes appeared once, on page 11. That was enough for now.

Nobody has opened it. Diva wants it at the Rift. Steler gave permission for it to go there. Those are three separate facts, and the Archive is not connecting them for you.

Wonderlands is running tests: doctors, hackers, the works. The results are Wonderlands business until they aren't.

Underground club, hacker haven, neutral ground, or close enough. It's where Diva wants the cube delivered, and where Part 4 is headed. The Archive has nothing on who runs it. That is unusual.
